I would like to share with you some thoughts about the world of technology that for many of us we enjoy, seem to not be able to imagine living without it even when it is at times frustrating.
What is the difference it all makes?
As we enter the autonomous revolution, understanding philosophy, which I will point out includes theology and mysticism, will be paramount in creating the greater good for human beings, using the tools of the revolution.
The autonomous revolution will bring about a fantastic number of positive changes to our world. The question we must ask, do we understand the difference OF Human Beings and THE difference it makes?
The autonomous revolution will bring about a settling of the question(s) for traditional religious beliefs, political ideas, moral principles, and justice systems. The autonomous revolution is one of those “Inflection Points” that will stimulate the on-going questioning we have seen over history, especially in the times and writings of Plato, Aristotle, Aquinas, Dun Scotus, Viktor Frankl, Richard Rohr, Thomas Merton, Teilhard De Chardin, Martin Hagglund, and others.
How do we, as human beings, differ from AI, robots, IoT? It is not as simple as saying, “we think, or we have souls.”
The lucid manner in which the autonomous revolution makes this complex questioning real and challenging must also make it understandable to the general reader of any publication. As the autonomous revolution evolves and AI, robots, etc. become even more perfected in replicating human beings’ behavior, we as human beings must begin to construct a logic of differences to determine the many ways in which we as human beings differ from everything else on the plant. Think in terms of order~disorder~reorder.
You and I might think this is no problem; we have no trouble understanding the differences. Do we really? Does the world our children will inherit grasp this difference? After all, it is the difference OF human beings and the difference it makes what we are all about as humans.
